Walkthrough: Stage Nine
You'll want to stay in melee mode for this one, as the mobility is required to dodge everything that's coming at you. Once you drop the Target on the upper ledge and grab the Bullet Case L , head down to the gate area and slay the Target to get another Recovery Herb. At the end of the bridge is a Garia. Walk forward quickly and tease it to swing at you, then drop back and attack when its shield is down. Repeat until the big lug goes down, then grab the Bullet Case S that he drops. Scene Five Use kicks to light up the various 'Dagda minions in the next canyon. Be sure to grab the Energy Bullets from a ledge to the left, and another on a higher ledge further down the path. There is a Garia midway down the path, but avoid him and continue to the Target. Scene Six The next passage is host to several Targets on ledges to the left and right. Use the gun's lock-on and strafe back and forth to eliminate the Balor at ground level. Your fire will naturally reach up to the ledges as you do this.
Once the first two Targets fall, grab the Recovery items and keep moving down the alley. Destroy the third Target to end the scene. Scene Seven Hop up to the ledge use a double-jump where the final Target was and proceed down the path, using the Life Recovery items as a bread crumb trail to get up top. You'll have to dodge or kill some Dagdas en route, but that's nothing. At the top is an Energy Bullet, and a Target. Kill the Dagda on the ledge across from it, then get to work on the Jenon. Drop it, collect the goodies and move to more forest carnage. Scene Eight Use your righteous guns to take down the fluttering Galarge here, and collect the proliferation of Items. When the last bird drops, move through the gate. Scene Nine The next bit is all about kicking Guidodagda heiny.

Once you kill a bunch, move to the right ledge and grab some goodies, then follow the path around so that you're facing the opposite cliff. Grab more gear from this high ledge, wary of Balor underfoot. Then repeat the process, except this time, jump across to the path that leads to the gate. Kill the Garia Target use the tease and shoot method , then step through the gate beyond. Scene Ten This area is more Galarge. Equip the guns and blaze away. Button mash! Grab whatever the dirty birds drop and continue.

Boss: Maponos You fought this chucklehead as Sieg, and the fight was much harder there. Here, it's the simplest boss battle in the game. Stay in the middle of the ledge and use your blasters to aim at the large plant. There are a few Grannue and Jenonholar on the platform with you, but they are easily avoided. The only things you really need to watch out for in this fight are the Dagdas that charge up the hill midway into the brawl and the floating mines. Otherwise, just rage away and use Energy Bullets whenever the "plant collar" is raised to score major damage. The faster you press the shoot button, the better. When the Balors go down, switch to the Archers and take down the next lumbering Target and his buzzing minions. Collect the Life Max Up after scene end. Scene Two Head through the gates to the next area. Use the Archers to keep the Ogmas who greet you at bay. Finish off as many as possible with your sword to keep the soul count high.
Then, as the path narrows, send out your Claw Legions to take on the Barmos and mines that clog your way. The mines will yield some quality health, too As you round the corner, be mindful of the Barmo facing diagonally and don't get in its path of fire. Keep sending the Claw dudes out to do your dirty work.

There are a bunch of enemies here, but the priorities are the Barmo and mines. Then you can take out the Ogma and the Target-type thing. Destroying it will yield a Defense Up. As you make your way down to the end of the next path, you'll be surrounded. This is a lot easier than it looks. Instead of standing in the way of the Barmos and getting mowed down, jump back behind the Target near the fence and attack is from behind with the Claw Legions and your sword. Soon, the Target will fall, and you'll be loaded with life. Collect your Max Life Up and get ready for the next scene. Scene Three As you move forward, you'll be beset on both sides by enemies. Use a combo of sword and Claw attacks to think their numbers and grow your soul count and the Claw XP. When you've conquered all of the Ogmas, keep moving ahead to reach a gate with a Target in front of it. Here, you'll want to switch to your Archers and clear out some of the rabble, because there's a lot of stuff to deal with here: two Barmos near the gate, several bombers, the large Target and tons of Ogmas.
Or, you can just use the jump and attack method to bring him down. Just make sure you're not in the path of the lasers from the Barmos, or you'll be used up quick. Grab the Defense Up when the Target falls. Scene Four The next area boasts a new type of creature called a Danu. Its body is completely impervious to the player's attack. The Danu is also capable of fatally damaging a Legion. The key to these guys is to use your Legions to beat them, and more specifically, your Archer Legions.
